Ceramic Boat by Susan Livingston

This hand-sculpted stoneware vessel combines artistry with paleontological intrigue. The ceramic boat rests upon a carefully composed foundation of fossilized Pleistocene bone and Florida Calcite, anchoring the piece in deep geological time. Adorning the bow is a Madagascan Cretaceous oyster shell, while a Madagascan ammonite graces the forward section. A Pleistocene coral fragment completes this layered composition, where ancient marine fossils and primordial stone converge to create an object that transcends mere function—a poetic dialogue between human creativity and the earth's distant past.
