I visited Provence during a particularly hot spell in July 2025. During the hottest part of the day, residents typically closed their shutters against the heat. One afternoon I was drawn to photograph a house on the Mediterranean waterfront that had wonderful geometric shapes, although its once-bright colors had long since faded. In "Sunny by the Sea" I tried to capture that feeling of the bright, white-hot sun reflecting off pale stucco walls while embracing the structure’s once-vivid colors.
