Kintsugi ~ Moon

This handcrafted saggar fired vessel was created by ceramist Brenda McMahon. A fully round form, marked with flashes from copper wire and steel wool, it is an exciting fume from natures fire.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold leaf. This vessel has a surface crack, now filled with gold. In the Japanese tradition of Wabi-Sabi, Brenda is honoring history and embracing perfection. Once considered 'less than', the gold filled area makes the vessel more beautiful than it was before.
