Elizabeth Neily

Elizabeth Neily moved to Florida in 1980 and has been fascinated by its beautiful birds ever since. She captures them soaring over the mangroves or at the moment they are poised to catch a fish. The people’s history is also important. She pays homage to Florida's native community by incorporating a touch of their ancient artwork, unearthed from archaeological sites, into her paintings.

Elizabeth Neily has lived in Gulfport for 36 years. She is a fiber artist who began painting in 1982, studying traditional miniature oil painting at Eckerd College. Today she uses gouache, an opaque watercolor-like process, to create her birds.
